Upcoming Trainings: Ohio Medical Board’s New Confidential Monitoring Program

 


The State Medical Board of Ohio (SMBO) developed a Confidential Monitoring Program in partnership with the Ohio Professionals Health Program (OhioPHP) for all licensees and applicants. This program is a confidential path for individuals to seek help for burnout, mental health, substance use disorders, and a therapeutic alternative to regulatory awareness. OhioPHP is a nonprofit organization that provides confidential and compassionate support for healthcare professionals with illnesses that may impact their health and well-being.

The Ohio Academy of Family Physicians (OAFP), in collaboration with the Ohio Professionals Health Program (OhioPHP), will host webinars for all members of the Ohio Coalition of Primary Care Physicians, which includes some OSMA members, on several dates throughout November and December to share more about changes made by the SMBO regarding impairment modernization, including a new Confidential Monitoring Program.

The training webinars will:

  • Provide an overview of chronic stress, burnout, mental health, and substance use disorders;
  • Introduce the new Confidential Monitoring Program, including eligibility requirements;
  • Review the “Duty to Report” requirements regarding impairment and;
  • Recognize how OhioPHP’s monitoring program can provide additional support for licensed healthcare professionals.
  • Join colleagues from across the state and primary care profession for a timely and informational session.
