New York University's (NYU) Orthopedic Surgery Sports Medicine and pursuing research at the University of Toledo's (UT) Community Care Clinics (CCC).

Reflections from OSMA Summer Scholar, Katherine:

"Thank you very much to the OSMA donors for awarding me with the OSMA 2024 Summer Scholars Award. With the money, I have been able to start off the year strongly with NYU Langone Orthopedics as a Sports Medicine Research Fellow.

I attended AOSSM 2024 in Denver where I had the chance to present some research I've completed thus far on the knee microenvironment and cytokine changes after ACL injuries. In addition to this, I led two randomised clinical trials, and dozens more other papers.

Also, at my home institution of UTCOMLS, I have continued mentoring and applying the things I've been learning here in NYC, and have just submitted a manuscript from work I did at our free clinic analysing the demographic differences of our patients versus the city of Toledo.

I have also started six other ongoing projects with our free clinic students and have had the excellent opportunity to pass on some of my knowledge and help other students learn, too! I am babysitting as a part-time job to fund this research year and very much appreciate the scholarship I was given by OSMA."
