For the last year, OSMA has been advocating for HB 130 that would create a prior authorization gold card program for physicians in Ohio. As these efforts continue, one of the biggest payers in Ohio, UnitedHealthcare (UHC), has announced the details of a gold card program they will implement in Ohio and across the nation starting October 1.

The program incorporates many of the elements contained in HB 130. This week, UHC released the specifics of the program including how a practice qualifies, billing codes included and several other administrative aspects.
