Reminder - New CMS reporting requirement starts July 1 for large ophthalmology practices in Ohio

Reminder - New CMS reporting requirement starts July 1 for large practices

Starting July 1, Ohio is one of nine states where CMS will start to require new surgical data collection for practices with 10 or more providers (anyone in the practice that has an NPI and are billing under the TIN counts in your total). According to the American Academy of Ophthalmology, "Rather than allow the elimination of global period, Congress gave CMS the option of proving that global services were misvalued by collecting data via claims."

The Academy has created an excellent resource center for practices in impacted states to assess whether your practice will be subject to the requirement and if so, how you comply. The OOS is working with the Academy to remind practices of this requirement and answer questions (email oos@ohioeye.org).
